After working for more than two years at the Francophone Society of Victoria, I decided to return to the teaching field as a teacher-assistant at the middle school and high school levels. I enjoyed my work but I was happiest when the teachers asked me to teach concepts in French to the class. It was at that moment that I made the decision to go back to school at the University of Victoria to complete a Bachelor of Education degree.

During my studies at the University of Victoria I taught evening French classes to adults at Camosun College. I taught Beginner I and Beginner II courses. I built these two classes from scratch and adapted them for each group. I focused on conversation using fun and interesting activities.

She makes the class fun, uses aids to assist memory and always uses positive reinforcement. I dreaded French class in high school but this class has completely changed that and I look forward to continuing with Level 2.

 

For over three years, I also taught at Educacentre College. During my time at Educacentre I helped parents to support their children’s education in French. I addressed the primary and junior curriculums that the students were learning at that time. I also helped adults working to complete their requirements for high school graduation.  

 

In addition, I taught at Canada School of Public Services and at the Coast Guard of Victoria in British Columbia for over six years. I worked directly with government employees who were required to pass French leveled tests for their employer and helped them to achieve their goals.

 

After accomplishing my goal of graduating from the University of Victoria with my Bachelor of Education degree (BEd) in my second language, I started teaching with the Greater Victoria School District. I taught there for over 7 years. I had to stop teaching to adults because I was already working full time in the public school system. It was a difficult decision to make but I knew that one day that I would return to teaching adults, which is my passion.

 

After having made the decision to move to Ottawa to be closer to my family, I transferred my certification. I now possess an Ontario Teacher Certificate as well as a British Columbia Teacher Certificate. 

 

The French language is dear to my heart and for me it is a passion to help you achieve your goals in French! It could be for travelling, for work, for pleasure, to help you support your children in French or to help you teach French at school. For these reasons and more, Français For You is for you!
